1919-2016
Margaret Towriss passed away peacefully surrounded by her cherished and loving family, Wednesday, August 31, at the age of 97. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years Lew, great-granddaughter Andrea Edmands, sisters Hazel, Elva, and Doreen as well as brothers Ed, Alvin, and Reg. She is survived by her sister Gladys Towriss, sister-in-law Anne Heron, daughters Gail (Gerry Carline), Carol (Wray Edmands), sons Richard (Sandra) and Brian (Vicki) as well as 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Born in the Wesley district July 10, 1919, she moved to the Marquis farm at the age of 16. Following high school, she entered the Moose Jaw Union Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1941. She married Lew on July 10, 1943 and later moved to the Towriss farm in the Davey District. They returned to Moose Jaw in 1965 when she continued her nursing career at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, until retirement in 1984. Her life was a precious gift to the many people who loved her dearly and will be celebrated at her funeral service Tuesday, September 6th at 1PM at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Linda Tomlinson-Seebach will officiate. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family wished to extend special thanks to all her friends and the staff of Caleb Village and Moose Jaw Extendicare for their friendship, care and kindness in the last year of Margaret's life. Flowers most gratefully declined, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
