Joan May McNutt

McNUTT, Joan May – 74, Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late George and Bernice (Hurley) Quann. Joan moved to Truro with her husband at the young age of 18, where she was a stay at home mother of seven children for many years. Later she created her business (Tomorrows Treasures), making hand-made porcelain dolls. She travelled for twenty years throughout the Atlantic Provinces craft shows selling her beautiful dolls. After retiring, she joined Curves and met some wonderful friends who met every Friday at Tim’s for coffee and conversation. Her favourite song was Hello Darlin’, by Conway Twitty. Joan is survived by her husband, Reginald; children, Joan, Reginald, Ronald, Irene (Stephen), Edward (Tammi), Terry (Rhonda); grandchildren, Stephanie (Dave), Cory (Abby), Leah (Joey), Paige, Chad (Michelle), Drew, Jacob, Kristen, Brett, Jessica, Jeremy; great grandchildren, Alexander, Mariska, Gemma; sisters, Rose and Georgina. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Charles; granddaughter, Katelyn; brothers, Bill, John. A special “thank you” to the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit. At Joan’s request, there will be no funeral; she will be cremated and remain with her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to IWK Health Centre or Kidney Foundation of Canada are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Joan’s obituary on-line and selecting “Send A Condolence” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
