Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer, with family close by his side, at age 79. Predeceased by his parents Reginald and Beatrice Porter; mother and father-in-law Allan and Eunice French; brothers-in-law Robert Saul, Roy French, Dave French and Harry Sheppard; and nephew Kirk Fillier. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Cavell (French) of 54 years; son David (Jackie); brother David (Shirley); sisters Joan Saul and Elaine (Dave) Peet; brother-in-law Allan French (Bonnie); sisters-in-law: Betty French, Myra French, Sylvia (Mose), Daphne (Harman), Rosalind (John), Rose (Steve) and Allison; special niece Cindy; also a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Thursday, September 8th, from 7-9 pm; Friday, September 9th, from 2-9 pm; and Saturday September 10th, from 10 am - 12 pm. Funeral service to take place at the Parish of the Ascension on Saturday at 2 pm with Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
