Edna Lynn Schmiedge of Herbert, SK passed away peacefully August 26, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lynn is survived by Lloyd, her loving husband of 43 years, her son Ryan (Crystal, Mckayla & Mckenzie), son Jarvis (Jodi, Luther, Brooke & Riley) and daughter Bridgette (Mike, Clayton & Marissa). She was born on January 20, 1952 in Davidson, SK to Edna and Allan Plourde. She was the second youngest of 5 girls. Lynn attended elementary school in Bladworth, SK then transferred to Davidson, SK for grades 10-12 where she met Lloyd. They dated for 4 years before they married on June 23, 1973. On August 27, 1974 they welcomed their first child, Ryan. Jarvis followed on July 25, 1976 and their family was complete when Bridgette was born on August 19, 1977. Lynn was a devoted wife and mother. Forgoing a career to stay home with her kids when they were young allowed her to be very involved in their activities. As the kids got older, she started to work outside the home. Most recently employed by Herbert Credit Union from 1996 until 2011 when she retired. She spent many hours of her time volunteering with St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herbert and the youth group. Some of Lynn's favorite hobbies were watching sports, playing golf and curling when she could, sewing, quilting and knitting, spending time at the cabin with her husband and cherished any chance she had to spend with her kids and grandchildren. Family and friends would often comment that she gave the best hugs and always had a bright smile on her face no matter how she was feeling. She was a beautiful person and will be forever missed by all who knew her. Lynn had a strong faith in the Lord and we know that she is at peace. "Comfort comes from knowing God is with me always and I thank him morning and night for all the blessings he has given me". The Memorial Service was held on Saturday September 3, 2016 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld, ushers were Karilyn Theissen and Joanne Schultz. The eulogy was read by her children Bridgette, Ryan and Jarvis. Readings were by Dana Seebach and Gordon Schmiedge, and special music was provided by Lisa Poier and Desire Sauverwald and Lois and Lana Schmiedge.
