Wilmer Hope Saunders, age 84, of Admiral, Sask., passed away September 6, 2016 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, Sask. The funeral service was held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, Sask., with Rev. Linda Hall officiating. The interment service was held at Admiral Cemetery. Warren's Funeral Home were in care of the arrangements. The pallbearers were; Doug Braden, Ray Braden, Rob Forester, Danny Spenst, Ron Saunders, and Jay Wallis. Ushers were Chyanne Forester and Logan Forester. Organist was Arlene Olson and soloist Jocelyn Hammond. Eulogist was Fred Wilson. The deceased is survived by; a sister Fern (William) Forester of Swift Current, Sask., a brother Frelan (Donna) Saunders of Admiral, Sask., brother-in-law Al Braden of Lethbridge, Alberta, nieces and nephews; Susan (Danny) Spenst of Waldeck, Sask., Robert (Corey) Forester of Swift Current, Sask., Doug (Lori) Braden of Lethbridge, Alberta, Ray Braden of Calgary, Alberta, Brenda Griffiths of Calgary, Alberta, Shannon Wallis of Shaunavon, Sask., Ron (Renita) Saunders of Admiral, Sask., great nieces and nephews; Duncan (Nicole) Spenst (Reese and Denton), Stacey Spenst, Chyanne Forester, Logan Forester, Amy (Jeff) MacDonald, Rebecca Griffiths, Cassidy Wallis, Jay Wallis, Sarah Wallis, Autumn Saunders, Noah Saunders, and many cousins. He was predeceased by; parents, mother Ethel May Saunders, Nov. 15, 1976, father Milton Arthur Saunders, Feb. 6, 1993, sister Vera Faith Braden, Aug. 15, 2014, and aunts and uncles. Wilmer was born on Nov. 15, 1931 on Sec.5, Tp9, Rge15, W3rd, Sask. He grew up on the family farm half a mile South of Admiral, Sask. and continued to farm until this year. He graduated from Grade 12 Admiral School in 1950. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons and Admiral history from Wilmer. In his young years, he was active in 4-H, Army Reserve, Director of Admiral Co-op, Director of Admiral Credit Union, and Director of Sask. Wheat Pool. In 1996, Wilmer moved into a new house, of which he was very proud. He took excellent care of it. Wilmer attended church in Admiral. He was a faithful believer in God and was ready to go to his eternal home in Heaven. Hobbies of Wilmer were visiting with family and friends and coffee at Admiral Happy Hearts. Throughout the years other interests were hunting, fishing, trapping, playing baseball, curling, gardening, and solving puzzles. Wilmer went on many trips throughout the U.S.A, Ontario, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. He also enjoyed camping with family. Family was important to Wilmer. He was a kind and loving brother and uncle. Wilmer will be greatly missed by all of his family. Donations in his memory may be made to Stars or to the charity of the donor's choice.
