It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jackie MacLeod on Saturday September 10, 2016 at The Cove Guest Home, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Gabarus Lake on April 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Neil and Flora Ann (MacLeod) MacDougall. Jackie was raised by his grandparents Alex and Margaret Ann MacLeod. Jackie was employed with Scotia Wholesale for 32 years at which time he retired in 1993. He enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling and telling stories. Jackie spent endless hours in his garage in Dutch Brook making a variety of Christmas decorations. He attended the United Protestant Church of Sydney River.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Chrissie MacLeod; twin sister, Nellie Hardy; sister, Myrtle Saunders; special cousin, Caroline MacInnis; sister-in-law, Elaine MacLeod; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jackie was predeceased by brothers, Neil Alex and Stewart MacDougall; brothers-in-law, Eddie Hardy, Fred Saunders, J.C. and Donald MacLeod. Visitation will take place Monday (Today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery.
