Violet McBride

McBRIDE, Violet Dorinda – age 96, of Waterville, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Rossway (Digby Neck), she was a daughter of the late Charles V. and Heilda G. (Sabean) Theriault. Violet moved from Rossway to the Annapolis Valley and lived in the area for 57 years. She had first been an active member of the Rossway Baptist Church and later at the Waterville Baptist Church. Violet held many offices in both churches over the years and was past president of the W.M.S., sang in the choir and taught in both the Sunday school and youth groups. Violet was also a member of the Sharon Club at the Waterville Baptist Church and is now with the Lord Jesus, whom she loved and served. Violet is the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by daughter, Anna May Scotney, Berwick; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John J. McBride; daughter, Carol McBride; son, Maynard McBride; son-in-law, Terry Scotney; grandsons, Brian Chase and Sean McBride; granddaughter, Nancy Chase; brother, Vinald Theriault; sisters, Rita McBride, Elsie Hudgins, Thelma Merrit. Visitation took place from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 15, both in Waterville Baptist Church, 1243 Mill St., Waterville. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating, assisted by Rev. Sarah Scott, with interment in the family lot in Rossway Baptist Cemetery, Rossway, Digby Co. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Waterville Baptist Church or to Rossway Baptist Cemetery.
