With heavy hearts we, regret to, announce the peaceful passing of Ronald O. Barr at Celtic Court in Sydney, N.S. on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Born May 12, 1929 in Perth-Andover, N.B. he was the oldest son of the late Irene and Ollie Barr. Ron was the owner, operator of Ron Barr Construction Co. Ltd. since 1972. He was an honest, hardworking man who loved his work, his family and anything to do with the outdoors.
To mourn his loss, he leaves behind the two true loves of his life, Dianne (Pino) Barr and his little poodle, Candy Barr. Ron is also survived by his children, Debbie Rattan (Dez), Leon (Diane), Dwayne (Kelly), Jeffery, Brian and Danny who all reside in Ontario.
Ron had a very special bond with and will be deeply missed by his step daughters who cherished him dearly, Paula Hill and Cathie Jessome (Steve). Ron is also survived by his brothers, Darrel (Donna), Gary (Helena), Fred (Susan), Paul (Myrtle-deceased), Phillip (Judy) and one sister, Eileen; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sisters June, Linda, Sandra and Elizabeth and by his mother and father-in-law, Alma and Mario Pino.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Celtic Court for their kindness and care they showed Ron while he was a resident. A special thank you to Ronnie and Rita Marman for their kindness during Ron’s illness. At Ron’s request, there will be no visitation or Funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will take place at a later date. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of…
