It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Kay Rowe, on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, on January 18, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Burton) Serrick. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Before her retirement she was employed at CB Hospital, Bramore Home.
In her earlier years mom enjoyed playing darts and bowling. Kay is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Ron) Wadden, Sydney, Brenda Rowe, Sydney and son, David (Cheryl) Rowe; grandchildren, Robert, Stephen, Ayla, Emily and Jesse; great granddaughters, Lauryn and Maelynn. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Rowe; a son, Gary and a longtime companion, Donald MacNeil. A special thanks to Dr. Myatt, Dr. Abboud, nursing staff of 4B and Palliative Care and Mom’s special friend, Ester Lucas who touched us all with her kind heart and thoughtfulness. In lieu of flowers, donations, can be made to charity of one’s choice or Palliative Care Unit or CBRH Hospital, Sydney. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September, 21, 2016 at the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
