Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Joseph’s, Foyer d’Youville, Gravelbourg, SK. Russ, at the age of 86, beloved husband of Maxine for over 41 years. Loving father of Kathryn Watson (Doug Deceased), and stepfather of Duane Wylie (Kathey). Cherished grandfather of John Watson (Amanda), and Trina Wylie, and great-grandsons Jack and Cole Watson. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Lionel, and his sisters Dale Sewers, Joan Knowlton (Edward). He is predeceased by brothers Clarence, Kenneth, and sister Eileen. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Russ was born to Gottfreid and Ella Rundberg on the family farm near Maidstone, SK on May 4, 1930. He was raised on the family farm and went to a country school in the Maidstone area. He started off his working career in and around the building trades moving to the Moose Jaw area in the late 1940’s, building elevators and working for the Pool. He and Jack North, his close friend, started their own contracting business in the early 1960’s “North & Rundberg Contractors”, and they quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional workmanship. He never formally retired from his career, providing service for many of the clients he had served over the years. He married Maxine Wylie on January 25, 1975 and lived happily in Moose Jaw enjoying many years of spending winters in California, Arizona and Mexico, where Russ enjoyed golfing. Declining health required a move to Providence Place by 2010. He moved to West Park Crossing in April of 2016 where he could live with Maxine, but following a severe stroke in August of this year required a move to the long term care facility at St. Joseph Foyer d’Youville. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Paul Drive, Moose Jaw, on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Donations to the Russell & Maxine Rundberg Charitable Foundation, WA WA Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, WA WA Shrine Centre, 2065 Hamilton St, Regina, SK, S4P 2E1, would be appreciated.
