It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Muriel Marie Haslam (Johnson) on September 20, 2016 in the Shiretown Nursing Home.
Born April 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William & Mattie (Wilson) Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Henderson (George), Melville; her grandson, Charcey Henderson (Gena); two great-grandsons, Jake and Ryan, Braeshore. She is also survived by her niece, Doris Ferguson, Tatamagouche; and numerous cousins.
Muriel dearly loved her family, her pride and joy. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, card games and reading.
Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Ellis Haslam; sisters, Jean MacIntosh (Alex), Olive Baillie (Sandy); brother-in-law, Harry Haslam (Joan); and sister-in-law, Mona Murray (Tom).
Visitation will be held 6-9 PM on Thursday, with Funeral 2:00 PM on Friday both in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Rev. Gregory Dickson will officiate. Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery, River John.
Donations in her memory may be made to the local SPCA or St. George's Presbyterian Church, River John.
