We, the family of Eva Blanche Howell, regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born August 21, 1927, in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Storey) Dithurbide. An avid bingo player, Eva enjoyed Kinsmen TV Bingo. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie and Denise, Sydney, Diane (Darrell) Campbell, Catalone Gut and Dale, Main-a-Dieu; sons, David and Derek (Marie), Sydney and John (Shirley), Nfld.; brothers, George (Elaine) and Joey, B. C.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Melvin; daughter, Donna; son, Douglas; brothers, Jimmy, Michael, Eddie, Eugene, Charlie, Albert and Henry; daughter-in-law, Darlene. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday 2 p.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the cancer centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
