A loving heart stopped beating on Sunday, Sept. 25 surrounded by her loving family. Our dear mother Edith Sangster passed away at the age of 94. Mom was born in Avondale, the daughter of the late James R. and Eva (Arbuckle) MacLeod.
Mom was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all who knew her.
Mom enjoyed working in the garden and other outdoor activities, and was very interested in writing poetry and short stories, winning an award for her poetry, playing BINGO was also a favorite pastime.
Besides her parents mom was predeceased by her first husband Elmer MacDonald and her second husband Marshall Sangster, 5 sisters Madeline, Aveon, Isabel, Myrtle, and Phyllis; 2 brothers William “Bill” MacLeod, Walter Neil MacLeod; son Lawrence Sangster; and son-in-law Sandy Cameron.
She is survived by 2 sisters Kaye and Helen, 6 brothers Jim, Colin, Hector, Ronnie, Joe and Sandy; 5 sons Elmer (Pat), Wayne (Elizabeth, Fred (Linda), Howard, Jim (Carol); 6 daughters Jean, Alice (Sam), Noreen (Pat), Edith (Jack), Marilyn (Rob), Valerie (Walt), sister-in-law Mae O'Connor, niece Brenda Pettipas and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her very good friend Beulah Wright.
Special thanks to Candy MacDonald for the care of mom.
Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in the Kenzieville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
