Dennis Richard Noreen (March 18, 1942 – September 25, 2016) of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the age of 74. Dennis was the first born son of George and Nellie Noreen and raised in Moose Jaw. Dennis went on to teach and develop the core of the Architectural Engineering course at SIAST until his retirement in 2002. In May 1967, he married Sharon Johnson and they settled in Moose Jaw to raise their family. Dennis enjoyed many sports in his youth, such as hockey and baseball, and went on to coach all 3 of his children in minor baseball as they grew up. He also loved gardening and took great pride in his beautiful yard each summer and, after retirement, rediscovered his love of wood carving. Dennis was the consummate family man, taking care of not only his own family but helping others. Many friends, neighbours and former students will fondly remember Dennis as someone on whom they could rely and who went above and beyond to help people. Dennis loved his family without measure and will be deeply missed by all for his deep love and respect and his gentle strength of character. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon and his 3 children, daughter Tanya and her husband Graeme of Brisbane, Australia, son Dana, his wife Ann-Marie and grandson, Grayson of Airdrie, AB and daughter Jana, her husband Murray and 2 granddaughters, Maia and Mila of Moose Jaw. Dennis is also survived by his only brother Ken (Terry) of Regina and his cousin Louise Hunter of Penticton, BC. Dennis was predeceased by his mother and father, Nellie and George Noreen, Special Aunt Stella Warsaw and his in-laws, Maxwell (Stout) and Isabella Johnson. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Pioneer Lodge for their excellent care of Dennis in his final weeks.
