Alan Cameron

Cameron, Alan
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alan Glen Cameron (Uncle Al), beloved brother, uncle and friend on Monday, September 26, 2016. Alan was predeceased by his parents James and Agnes Cameron, sister Muriel Petcoff, brother Ross Cameron and great-nephew William Duncan. He is survived by his brother Gordon Cameron (Jean), sister Heather Duncan, sister-in-law Joyce Cameron, 11 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Uncle Al was born January 23, 1931 in Moose Jaw, SK. He grew up in the Briercrest community and followed his passion by farming in the Briercrest area with his 2 nephews Jim Duncan and Willie Duncan. His first job was working for Earle Roby, moving onto working for Gussie Finlay until he purchased his farm along with his grandfather's land. Uncle Al's shop was a common meeting place for the surrounding area. Everyone was always welcome for a visit, for advice, possibly to borrow machinery, and the odd shot of rum. He was also the "C" of C & D Welding and Repair, as he partnered with Howard and Heather Duncan. Uncle Al had a very strong sense of family and was always lending a helping hand in the community. The Community Store, Community Hall, as well as the Community Rink are all structures he took part in building. He had a wonderful sense of humour, always teasing the many children around him. He tied many laces up at the Briercrest Community Rink while making sure the ice was ready for both the skaters and curlers. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9, would be appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at The Briercrest Community Hall with Reverend Bob Langdon officiating. Interment will follow in the Briercrest Cemetery.
