We the family of Cap Brown, regretfully announce his passing on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital at the young age of 88 years. Cap was a very active man all of his life up until about 2 weeks ago. Born in North Sydney on January 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Ida Jane (Annesty) Brown. Dad was a well known businessman and owner of Cap Brown’s Electric for many years until his retirement. Cap was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and felt most at home while in the woods. He carried on this passion from his younger years until just recently. One of his greatest pleasures was teaching others the ways of the woods. He had many hunting experiences with his grandson Craig, which he fondly recalled at every opportunity and most recently with his great-grandson, Michael. He will fondly be remembered by his many hunting buddies, Keith Knight, Gordon and Jimmy to mention a few. Cap was a member of the Fish & Game Association and the Rifle Range many years ago. He is survived by his sons, Stewart (Elaine), Stanley (Dawn) and daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Miller and Mary Louise Brown; his grandchildren, Stephen Sampson (Shelley), Craig Brown (Teresa), Kaitlin and Reid Brown. He is also survived by his special sidekick great-grandchild, Michael Sampson and great-grandchildren, Ava and Piper Brown. He is also survived by his brother, Shirl (Janice) and sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Dake and Betty (Steve) MacDonald and brother-in-law, Tom Rice, nieces and nephews. Cap was predeceased by brothers, Stanley (Jean), Gord (Mavis), Percy (Eleanor), Art (Madonna) and sisters, Louise Rice, Greta (Art) Oliver and his wife, Geraldine F Brown. The family would like to thank Dr. Michel McKeough and Louise for all their care over the years. Special thanks to the nursing staff on the 5th floor and a caring neighbor Michael Taylor for your watchful eye over our dad. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
