John "Jack" Joseph Nicholson

Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sept 30, 2016 at the age of 65. He was born in Sydney, the son of the late Ronald and Christine (Campbell) Nicholson. As a youth, Jack was a member of Sacred Heart boys’ choir, and leant his wonderful voice to many concerts. He was a proud member of Boy Scouts of Canada and earned his Queen Scout award. After graduating from high school he worked as Manager Trainee at Kmart. He later moved to Hamilton, ON, where he furthered his education gaining his diploma as a certified Oil Burner Technician. Jack then started his company Nicholson Heating which he later transferred to his beloved Cape Breton. He is survived by his wife, Lana (Tanner); his children, Kelley (Jacob) Banfield and Scott and their mother, Martina Gillis; grandchildren, Angelle, Sophia, William and Grace; siblings, Florence (Owen) Carrigan, Carol (John) MacPhee, Bob (Deborah), Margo (Paul)Timmons, Debbi (Jay) Duguid and Cameron; many nieces, nephews and their many children. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold (in infancy) and Ronald. His gentle soul and warm nature earned him many friends over the years. A celebration of Jack’s life will take place at a later date.
