It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Wayne Campbell, on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital. Wayne completed his last and final voyage surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. Born in Mill Creek on February 5, 1945, he was the son of the late Jimmy and Viola (Marsh) Campbell.
Wayne spent the majority of his life on the sea, sailing the Great Lakes aboard numerous vessels until his retirement. Wayne was a kind hearted man and a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan. He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Brian) Buglar, Dwayne (Tracy) Campbell and their mother, Bernadette Campbell; by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelsey, Charlotte and Shelby; by his brothers, Emmett (Betty) Campbell, Adrian (Sally) Campbell, David (Doreen) Campbell; his sisters, Patricia MacIntyre, Colleen (Brian) Harrietha, Sandra (Bud) Rice; sister-in-law, Dolena Campbell and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his loving partner, Mildred “Millie” Forrest and her children, Harold (Carla) Forrest, Timothy (Kathryn) Forrest, Bonnie (Dennis) Grant, Elizabeth Forrest, Carmen (Brad) Boudreau and 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by twin daughters, Patricia and Marie; brothers, Lloyd Campbell and David Brian Campbell.
Visitation for Wayne will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
