The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, of Jean Gallant (nee Gallant), wife of the late Joseph Lawrence “Lawlie” Gallant, formerly of Rusticoville, aged 82. Jean was the mother of Shane, Melissa Gallant-Halliday, Trevor (Lyneth) and the late Vanessa; mother-in-law of Evan Larter; and grandmother of Rowan and Nathan Halliday; and Malaya Gallant. She is also survived by her sisters, Hazel LeClair, Alvire Gallant, Guelda Cogger, Grace Lambe and Clara Gallant; and brother, Wallace (Pat). Besides her husband Lawlie and her daughter, Vanessa, Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jeremiah and Clara (Gallant) Gallant; her brother, Alvin; and her stepbrothers and stepsisters. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, October 7, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. The CWL will hold a Prayer Service prior to the visitation at 3:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery.
