It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Stanley “Big Stan” MacNeil on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at home.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Rita Pinhorn and raised by his ma, Mary MacNeil. He was a coal miner with Lingan Coal Mine until his retirement. He enjoyed watching UFC and hanging out with his gym buddies at Sweeney’s. Stanley is survived by his wife, Carol (Meagher); daughter, Laurie (Eric) and his precious granddaughter, Julia. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne (Jackie), Kevin (Mabel), Velva (Freddie), Derek (Laurie) and Joyce (Pat); his brother from another mother, Dave (Yvonne) Walsh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Stan was predeceased by his first wife, Julia; grandson, Garrett; brother, Jimmy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13,2016 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
