As a devoted and loving husband, father and "poppy Jim" the family of the late James (Jim) Hann announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the age of 77 years. Jim fought a courageous fight against cancer since 2007 and was surrounded by those whom he loved so dear in an intimate gathering at his residence in Summerside as his fight came to a close. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 52 years, Hazel; his children who he was so proud of, sons Jimmy (Sue) and Stephen (Deanne); daughter Michele (Kevin); his pride and joy, his 5 grandchildren: David, Phoebe, Nathan, Dave, and Erica and 3 beautiful great grandchildren: Abby, Gavin, and the newest addition Hannah; sisters: Maxine, Joan (George), Marie, Fern (Danny), Marcie (Tex), and Eileen (Lawrence); brothers Ormsby and Victor (Nancy); sisters-in-law Eliza and Nora; brothers-in-law Stuart (Violet) and David (Nellie); as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He is now in the loving arms of his mother Jessie and father William, and in company of his brothers Brazil and Franklin and sister Jean. Special thanks to his care giver Tracey Loder, who he adored, the staff at the Cancer Centre and Western Health, and Dr. Griffin. Friends may visit Bethany United Church in Summerside today, Tuesday, October 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations are graciously accepted to the Bethany United Church Building Fund.
