It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Robert "Bob" David Oake announce his passing at Western Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Robert was born on January 2, 1934 in Corner Brook to David and Mary Oake. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 60 years, Eileen (nee Spencer). Robert spent many years traveling the province as a salesman for Morse's Tea Company before he and his wife Eileen started and ran a successful business "Broadway Textile" for 31 years. They enjoyed life to the fullest, having a cabin in Bonne Bay Pond and years travelling together to Florida and other vacation destinations. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and many close friends over the years. He leaves to mourn with many happy memories, his family: Fred and Blanch Spencer, Victoria Spencer, Margaret and Donald Alyward, Marie and Ray Cole, Joan Taylor and Brian Peterson, Brian and Mary Spencer; nieces: Cindy (Frank Hynes) and Judy (Craig Snelgrove) as well as his other nieces and nephews; cousins: Vic and Myrna Bartlett; friends: Velma Wheeler (David), Audrey, Bob, Mary, Doris Bartlett, Tom and Ruby Walsh, Ron and Marie Denny and Beth and Joe Specker. He was predeceased by his parents David and Mary Oake; brother-in-law Bert Spencer and his cousin Lloyd Bartlett. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. from County Haven Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Wendy Lowden officiating. In keeping with Robert's wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. The family guest book may be signed by visiting www.country-haven.ca.
