The Blundon Centre deals with accessibility issues at MUN and Emir remained on that board even after retirement, serving for nearly 25 years. In recent times Emir also joined the Board of CODNL. Emir's other passion in life was her dogs. Together with husband Steve, they bred and showed Scottish Terriers for some 35 years. As a member of the Newfoundland (All Breed) Kennel Club from 1972 until her passing, she served in many official roles - most frequently as Show Secretary. When she and Steve met, she owned a dog named Finn MacCoul and the last dog they acquired in 2014 is also named Finn MacCoul. Visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Sunday, October 23, from 12noon-9pm. A celebration of Emir's life will take place at St. David's Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth Avenue, on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow at the church hall.
