Passed away suddenly but peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Lou Porter, aged 88 years, was predeceased by his parents, Heber and Susannah; his brothers, John and Graham; parents-in-law, Victor and Beatrice Mullett as well as a number of brothers and sisters-in-law. Lou leaves behind with fond and loving memories, his wife and best friend of 64 years, Rosemarie; daughter, Colleen (Brian) Conway; son Ed "Eddie" (Elizabeth Cecchi) and his grandchildren, Marshall (Megan), Kristen, Abby, Matthew and Taylor. Lou also leaves behind his sister, Violet Simpson; sisters-in-law, Helen Fogwill-Porter, Doreen Penton and Mary (Cecil) Green; a number of nieces and nephews, including his "always helpful" nephew, Victor Mullett; along with close and devoted family friend, Dorothy Downer (Harry deceased). Special thanks to the caring staff of ICU, the Emergency Department and the 7th floor at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Cremation has taken place. Visitation on Saturday from, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will take place at Caul's Chapel on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 3 pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Lou's memory may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Canada.
