Martha Helene Fillmore
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Martha Helene Fillmore, late of Prince Albert, SK and formerly of Shellbrook, SK, announce her passing on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Pineview Terrace in Prince Albert, SK. Mom was born in Saskatoon, SK on April 29th 1919 and lived and attended school there until the family moved north to the family homestead in the Lone Spruce district in 1928. She continued her schooling at the Sturgeon Valley School, walking from the farm after daily chores and worked for local farmers in the area helping make ends meet. Mom was a big sports fan and loved playing softball and curling and loved taking in sports days and ball tournaments. Mom and Dad were married in November of 1940 and also homesteaded in the Lone Spruce district where they farmed until 1956 when the family moved to Wild Rose and were janitors of the school and Dad drove school bus. In 1979, they retired to Shellbrook where they enjoyed their time travelling and visiting friends and family. After Dad passed away in 1999, Mom eventually moved to Prince Albert and resided there until her passing. She leaves to mourn her 4 sons and family: Bud (Grace) of Billings, Montana, Gerald (June) of Prince Albert, SK, Harold (Linda) of Ft. Saskatchewan, AB and Marvin (Val) of Saskatoon, SK; as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; her brother- in- law: Alfred; and her sisters- in- law: Pelma and Vivian in New Brunswick. Martha was predeceased by: her husband: Lloyd; parents: Adam and Bertha Mallas; brothers: Otto, Oscar, Paul, Arthur; and her sisters: Olga and Margaret; her father- in- law: Harvey; and mother-in- law: Minnie Fillmore; as well as brothers- in- law: Walter, Carmen and Bill; and sisters- in-law: Edna, Margaret, and Florence. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:30 pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 130 9th St E, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Martha may be made to Pineview Terrace, 1200A 24th St W, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 4N9, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
