Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: October 19th, 2016

It is with great sadness that we, the loving family of Ann Miller, regret to announce her passing on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at St. Vincent Nursing Home in Halifax. Born December 22, 1935, in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (MacNeil) MacNeil. Ann attended Holy Angels High School and had fond memories of working at the five & ten and Crowell’s Department stores, Sydney, in her earlier years. She enjoyed going out on the weekends doing what she loved, dancing, until she met the love of her life, James Miller. Ann was a devoted member of Holy Rosary parish, Westmount and took great pride in raising her three children and caring for her husband. Not a person to travel far from home, Ann took great comfort and joy in staying close to the ones she loved. A little bit of love was poured into every meal, especially her desserts. The last few years of her life were spent at St. Vincent Nursing Home in Halifax, where she touched the lives of the many people she met. Ann will truly be missed by the staff of where she calls home, as well as forever missed and in the hearts of her family and friends. She is now at peace, in heaven, reunited with the love of her life that she lost so many years ago. Ann was truly one of God’s angels. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (David) Risk, Sydney; sons, Glenn and Victor (Ellen), both in Halifax; sisters, Marie Brown, Ont. and Delores (Louis) MacPherson, Sydney; grandchildren, Richard Risk and James Miller. Ann was predeceased by her husband, James Miller; sister, Frances MacNeil; brothers, Gordie, Peter and Jackie.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount on Saturday, November 5 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Sincere thanks to St. Vincent Nursing Home for making their home our mother’s home. We can never thank enough all those who helped our mother over the years, especially Tom and Shirley Andrews of Westmount. She was truly blessed to have you in her life. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail
