It is with great sadness that the family of Janie Matheson, announce her passing at Alderwood Rest Home, in Baddeck NS, on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 88 years of age. Born in Baddeck, she was the daughter of the late George Munroe and Annie Mae Munroe (MacDonald).
Janie is survived by her daughters, Anne (Jamie), Norma Jean; sons, Wayne and George; grandsons, Jason (Rebecca), Jake (Wen), Jennifer (Eddie); great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Logan; her nieces and nephews and her Boston girls, Candy and Julia. She was predeceased by her brother, John and her sister-in-law, Gladys. Janie enjoyed the company of her many good friends and family. She enjoyed a good laugh, a good cup of tea and serving her famous brownies. She loved visiting her friends and taking little road trips which always ended in eating out somewhere. There was always lots of laughter around the kitchen table as Janie enjoyed a good game of cards or a board game with her family. Her door was always open and she loved when her house was full. She always be counted on to lend a helping hand.
The Family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Alderwood Rest Home. The love and kindness shown to our mother is sincerely appreciated. Visitation will be Sunday Oct 23, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the MacAskill Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday Oct 24, 2016 at Little Narrows Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew MacDonald and Rev. Mary Anne Grant Officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alderwood Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements for Janie are under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, NS.
