It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of John David Sharpe on October 23, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Harold and Agnes (Ling) Sharpe. John worked as a coal miner for 30 years. He enjoyed times spent on his 4-Wheeler, snowmobile and enjoyed playing cards. He also loved to spend time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren who he loved dearly, spending the summers in Cheticamp and he was always in a hurry and going nowhere fast.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mildred; son, Darrell (Krystal); daughter, Ann Marie (Derrick); sisters, Millie (Joe) and Raylene (Clarence); brothers, Harold, Bernie and Billy (Brenda); grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler and Vayda. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Edith. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 2-4- 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will take place on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard with Fr. Norman McPhee officiating. Burial to take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, all are welcome.
