Harold Joseph O'Keefe

Passed on: October 28th, 2016

Ferryland
1932-2016
Passed peacefully away in his eighty-fifth year, at the Lion's Manor in Placentia, with his friend at his side listening to his brother Jimmy's CD at 4:00 am on October 28th. Harold was the last living child of Augustus and Catherine (Sesk) O'Keefe. He goes to join them and his late brothers and sisters: Albert (Bert), William (Billy), James (Jimmy), Leo, Valentine (Val), John (Johnny), Theresa and Veronica. He leaves to mourn sister-in-law Dolly and many relatives and friends from near and far, especially his loving nieces and nephews and their children. He also leaves to deeply mourn him, his long-time friend and care-giver, Judy French Facey of St. John's and her sons and their families, and her relatives. Harold was loved and respected by the good people of Ferryland and the Southern Shore. They rewarded his style and generosity with loads of gifts off the land and sea and happy conversations. Harold was a true gentleman. He liked animals and children and treated everyone he met kindly. He often said, "If you meet a man without a smile, give him one of yours". He was wise and funny and an exceptional singer, he had an astounding repertoire of songs and most often was found singing. A great many of his songs were about Mother and Ireland. Flowers gratefully accepted, as he liked flowers or donations could be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital, SPCA or the Alzheimer's Association. Resting at Fahey's Funeral Home in Fermeuse on Saturday, Oct 29th from 6 - 9, and Sunday, Oct 30th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9. Cremation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Nov 2nd at 11 am from Holy Trinity Church, Ferryland. Inurnment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. He was my benefactor and co-pilot and I will love and miss him and love him forever. So Long Beloved Friend.
