Mary Theresa “Minnie” Campbell, 86, of Sydney River, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 28th. Minnie was born in Mabou, Inverness Co. and was the daughter of the late Martha (Adams) and Duncan “Duggie” Cameron. Minnie had a long and successful career in financial, administrative and retail services. The highlight of Minnie’s career was as an independent businesswoman. Together with her husband Chas, Minnie owned and operated retail lighting (Campgill Lighthouse) and giftware stores (Leanna's Specialties). Throughout their long and wonderful life together Minnie and Chas were able to enjoy travel far and wide. In their retirement years they especially enjoyed leisure and travel in their RV, which allowed them to visit and host numerous friends and family members. Minnie was devote in her religious beliefs and practices and for many years was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Sydney River. Minnie considered it a privilege to be able to generously support a number of charitable organizations and activities. Minnie’s greatest pleasure came from her involvement with her family. Minnie was always an appreciated source of love, support and fun to her children and all family members. Minnie’s passing will leave a void in the lives and hearts of her many family members and friends. Minnie was predeceased by her above mentioned parents; sister, Annabelle (Rennie) and brothers, Bill (Rita) and John. Minnie is survived by her ever loving husband, best friend and soul mate, Chas; her children, Leanna (Ritchie), Charlie (Ellen), Doug (Debbie) and John (Carrie) and grandchildren, Cassie, Martha, Cameron, Caylah, Daniel, Anna, Mairi, Emma, Ryan, Patrick, Kenzie, Jonathan, Liam, Jordan and Camden; great grandchildren; Dylan, Lilly and Hannah. Chas and family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of the caregivers and staff of MacDougall Court at Harbourstone Extended Care facility in Sydney River. It was a great comfort to Minnie and family to be assured of an exceptional level of care, support and respect. Visitation will take place at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney on Tuesday, November 1st between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
