Passed on: October 23rd, 2016

William "John" age 66 of Swift Current, SK passed away on October 23, 2016. A social to remember John was held Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 2:30 pm. John is survived by his wife, Norma; daughter, Jennifer; son, Joel; grandchildren, Liam and Zoe; sister and brothers, Geraldine, Bob and Don and their families; as well as Norma's mother, Ida Sambrook, her siblings and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Tom Cave; brother-in-law, John Dyer and father-in-law, Walter Sambrook. John was born in Swift Current on September 19, 1950. He attended Oman and Beatty schools, and the U of Calgary where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree. John always felt a deep connection to the land and agriculture. This was reflected in his early work years on the family dairy, as a salesman for Canada Packers, at Farm Credit Corp., and most recently, Edge Realty. John was highly thought of and was a hardworking, wise, trusted friend and business associate. One friend stated, "with John all I needed was a handshake." You always knew where John stood on any issue - no grey, just black and white. His motivation for any action was based on what he felt was best for those he loved and cared for. John had many passions in life. He loved his children, Jennifer and Joel, dearly. He played ball and hockey most of his life. John's venture into cattle began as a business decision, but became much more. His beloved dogs brought him great joy. John was looking forward to hunting with Blu this fall. He and Norma shared a love of planting and gardening and were regulars at the greenhouses each spring. John's greatest love was his wife of 32 years, Norma. Memorial Donations in John's memory may be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A. or the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Warren's Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
