Clarence Bernard (Bernie) Forbes
October 21, 1930 – October 27, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce that Bernie Forbes has gone to the big Marsh in the sky. Bernie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvonne (Vonnie Ferguson) and children Karen (Mark), Kelly (Bruce), Kristie, Mark (Donna); grandchildren Leslie (Steve), Steven (Bronwyn), Scott, Tyson, Brian, Kandra, Halle; and great-grandson Magnus; brother Larry (Marilyn); brother-in-law David; and in-laws Don (June) Ferguson, and Dale (Pat) Ferguson, and Marjorie (Gordon) Ward. Bernie is predeceased by parents Clarence and Alice (Geottler), and sister Patti Gamble. Born on a farm north of Mortlach, Bernie dedicated his life to farming and wildlife conservation, especially waterfowl and upland birds. Bernie spent 3 years as Saskatchewan’s Director of Wildlife and the next 20 years with Ducks Unlimited Canada, ending his career as Regional Manager of SK, MB and NWT. Bernie was a true outdoorsman. It was fitting that he came into this world and now leaves it during hunting season. Whenever we hear geese fly overhead, we will be thinking of Bernie. The celebration of Bernie’s life will take place at the Mortlach Memorial Hall on Friday November 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. A time of fellowship will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Village of Mortlach (Casey Jones Heritage Site), Mortlach, SK S0H 3E0. In living memory of Bernie, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
