The death occurred peacefully, with family at her side, at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Monday, October 31, 2016, of Velda Gallant, formerly of North Rustico, aged 75. Velda was the beloved mother of Ricky Gallant (Michelle); and proud grandmother to Ashlyn, whom she cherished and adored. She is also survived and lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters, Audrey Corrigan, Theresa Gallant, John Gallant, Paul Gallant, Gary Gallant (Stella), Joyce “Judy” Gallant (Helen Friesen) and David Gallant (Marsha); brother-in-law, Leo Rooney; special friends, Giles Gallant and Matilda Pineau; and numerous nieces and nephews. Velda was predeceased by her parents, Andrew “Andy” and Florence (Pineau) Gallant; special friend, Eric Pineau; brothers, Joseph “Huck” Gallant and Kenneth “Miller” Gallant; sister, Lorraine Rooney; and nephews, Terry Doiron, Ronnie Doiron, David Gallant Jr. and Kevin Gallant. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, November 3, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery.
