MacDONALD, Walter Francis “Frank” – 84, Truro, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016, at home. Frank was born in Westville and began his career in radio broadcasting in New Glasgow before moving to Truro, where he continued in radio. He had a long and rewarding career until his retirement in 1996. Frank is survived by his wife, Iris (MacDonald); daughters, Arlene (Mike) Bailey, Colleen MacDonald; son, Brent (Alexandra) MacDonald; grandchildren, Emily and Liam Bailey and Benny and Grier MacDonald, all of Truro; sisters, Josephine (Adrian) Piek and Muriel Roper; brothers-in-law, Stuart Gamble (late Arlene) and Bill MacDonald (Maxine); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Frank’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Family graveside service will be held in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou. If so desired, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to VON or Palliative Care Unit (CEHHC), without whose help we could not have been able to keep Frank comfortably at home.
