HARRIET ALEXANDRA ANDREWS

Born In: NORTH SYDNEY, Nova Scotia
Born: August 8th, 1941

Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia
Passed on: November 5th, 2016

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Harriet Alexandra Andrews, age 75, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Harriet was born in North Sydney on August 8, 1941, the eldest daughter of the late William and Christena (MacNeil) Stubbert. Left to mourn her passing is her son, Calum (Tracey), Keswick Ridge, NB; her grandchildren, Caylin and Josh; her sisters, Joanne Crenshaw, Merrimac, Massachusetts, Wilma (Kevin) Carey, Sydney Mines; her brothers, Harold, St. Catharines, ON, Clifford (Astelle), Millville and four nephews. Besides her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Ralph and her son, Josh.
Harriet’s chosen career as a lab technologist saw her working at various local hospitals, Fisheries Canada and the lab at Scotsburn Dairy. In addition to her 35 year career, Harriet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always put others first before herself. Upon her retirement, Harriet had the time to partake in all the things she loved to do. She enjoyed traveling and went on several vacations and cruises around the world. Like so many Canadians, Harriet became a “snowbird”, spending most winters at her home in St. Petersburg, FL. She also took great joy in visiting family and friends both near and far. Harriet also volunteered endless hours with organizations that had significant meaning and importance to her. When Harriet wasn't volunteering her time, she could be found refinishing antiques, tole painting, sewing or mowing her seven acre property. For those who knew Harriet, she would quickly put aside whatever she was doing to give a helping hand or accept an invitation to accompany a friend on another journey in life. Harriet lived her life to the fullest!
A very special thank you to her close neighbors and friends whom Harriet could always count on when needed.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 12 from 2-4 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
