Donald Warren Douglas

It is with sadness the family of Donald Warren Douglas age 94 of Amherst announce his peaceful passing on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Gables Lodge, Amherst.
Born in Oshawa, Ontario, he was a son of the late Daniel M. and Fanny (Cooper) Douglas.
Donald was a proud veteran of the Second World War, where he served with the RCAF and was a past member of No. 428 Wing RCAF Association in Peterborough and Tool Engineers of Canada in Peterborough, ON for thirty five years and was a member of the North Minister United Church in Peterborough.
He greatly enjoyed woodworking and created several masterpieces over the years. Donald and his late wife, were avid golfers. Over the years Donald and Marjorie were fortuned to be able to travel the world and visit many new places. He enjoyed his gardens and trying various new additions to his rose garden every year. He loved his cat Abbigail. After several years in Peterborough he moved to Amherst to be near his son Rick.
Donald leaves behind to mourn his loving son, Stephen (Mi-Sook), Toronto, ON; beloved grandchildren, Kyle Troy and Quin Rhys Douglas both of Toronto, ON; daughter in-law, Carolyn Douglas, Amherst; sister in-law, Anne (Hal) Taylor, ON; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Donald was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his wife the former, Marjorie “Tutty” Boyle (2011); daughter, Barbara Diane (1948); son, David Richard “Rick” (2011); and sister, Huda Chivas; sisters in-law Dorothy (Dolly) Hubbs and Bette Cyrs.
As per Donald’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-9906). His cremated remains will be laid to rest beside in his family at the Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough, ON at a later date.
