HATFIELD, Glenn Winston Douglas – age 74, of Eastern Passage, and formerly of Pleasant Lake, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side at the VG Hospital on November 11, 2016. Born February 24, 1942 he was the youngest son of the late Edgar and Margaret (Farquhar) Hatfield of Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co. Glenn and his brother Richard rode their bikes daily back and forth to work on the farm on Pleasant St. He also worked many other jobs including service stations at the end of Argyle St. and Vancouver St., delivered linen up the Digby shore, logged in the woods, diving and refloating ships, scrap metal dealer, he frequented auctions where he would buy livestock, vehicles or anything else that caught his eye, and used the computer to do his business dealings later in life. Glenn was an avid gardener who loved to grow vegetables and flowers and was known to be very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He is survived by his sons, John (Lisa) and Bruce Hatfield; daughters, Corinne Hatfield (Donnie) and Shelley Reardon (Jeffrey); brother Edgar Hatfield; sisters, Lorna (Gerry) Baskette, Peggy Crosby, and Bonnie (Jack) Hurlburt; 12 grandchildren, Billy, Jonathan, Andrew, Sherry, Clara, Joshua, Ginger, Connor, Maggie, Glenn, Kate and Faith; 7 great grandchildren, Grace, Nathaniel, Isaac, Owen, Spencer, Addison, and Josh. Predeceased by brothers, Richard and Arnold Hatfield; sister, Irma Oxner. Extra special thanks to his sister Lorna. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 2 P.M. in Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Highland Plains Cemetery. Flowers were accepted. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
