Donald Edward Westwood aka Willie, born in Moncton New Brunswick October 29, 1931, died November 9, 2016 at the age of 85. He was placed in care at birth and lived in Bairncroft orphanage in Sydney from 1931-1937. He resided in Braemore Home in Sydney for many years before moving to L’Arche (Mabou). In 2011 he was placed in long term nursing care, first Harbourstone and finally Waterford Heights. He was not able to work but he kept other residents busy and entertained with his incredible tales. Although born Donald, most only knew him as Willie, a nickname that came from the Sheriffs badge he wore and toy gun he carried everywhere. Sherriff Wild Bill, or Willie, lived each day as if he were the local sheriff in town. Many thanks to the many staff at various care homes and facilities Willie resided in since birth.
A graveside service will take place Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel.
