He was also predeceased by his brother-in law Peter Dicks and Gerald Rumbolt and his sister-in-law, Mamie. Jim was born in Corner Brook, NL into a very large family of 15 and was adored by all. He graduated high school and went on to work as a Fireman for many years before leaving for Alberta in 1982. Jim was a star athlete who was gifted both in hockey and baseball and throughout the years won countless awards for his dedication to the sport. He was inducted into the NL Baseball Hall of fame in 1990 and the NL Hockey Hall of fame in 2004, one of the very few to make both. His family, friends, teammates and community admired him and he created memories that will be cherished forever. Jim moved to Alberta in 1982 and spent over 20 years with his love, June Shaw. They were best friends and spent time going to rodeos, camping and enjoying life together. Jim (Dad) had a positive impact on so many people throughout his life. He will be missed by many and never forgotten by his family. We will cherish the beautiful memories he left us with. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a sports league in your community.
