Howard Adam Skiffington

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Howard Adam Skiffington,93, on November 14,2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family at his side. Born in Donkin he was the son of the late Gidon and Elizabeth (Patton) Skiffington. Howard served in WWII as an active Gunner throughout Europe. Upon his return he worked in the coal mines in Donkin before immigrating to the US where he worked as a Welder. He then returned back home to Cape Breton where he taught Welding at the AVTC, then worked as a Technical Advisor for Sodel until his retirement. In enjoying his retirement he loved spending time with his family, hunting and fishing in Loch Lomond and in the winter was spent watching hockey, one of his proud moments was this year getting his photo done with the Stanley cup. Surviving are: daughters, Diane Brockett and Shirley Hall; son, Glenn (Carol); grandchildren, Tracy, Ricky, Chuckie, Kim, Christian and Alexandra; 12 great grandchildren; 7 great -great grandchildren and brother, Raymond. Besides his parents he was predeceased by loving wife, Emmeline (Parsons); son-in law, Charles Brockett; sisters, Sarah Crooker and Mabel Runge; brothers, Clarence, George and Frances.
Visitation will take place on Thursday Nov.17,2016 from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. in Patten Funeral Home 71 union St, Glace Bay. Funeral Service will be held on Friday Nov. 18, in St. Luke’s United church Donkin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob Biggar officiating. Donations in Howard’s name can be made to Branch 5 Legion Donkin.
