Ed passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 13, 2016, age 70. Predeceased by loving parents: Edward and Bridget Bruce; sisters: Betty Bartlett, Florence Leonard-Walsh; brothers: Dan (Pauline), Fred, Albert; brothers in law: John Leonard, Leo Walsh, Maurice Kelly & Harry Bartlett; nephews: Hughie Bruce, Ed and Adam Kelly; mother and father in-law: Stephen & Mildred Butland; sisters in-law: Winnie Casey & Ingegerd Butland, brother in law, Rory Doherty. Left to mourn with cherished memories: wife, Carmelita (Butland); daughter, Jacinta Bruce (Paul Burke),his precious grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kyla and Blake, son, Clint Bruce (Jill White) and precious grandchildren, Megan, Cloe and Gavin, brothers: Raymond (Shirley), Clarence (Theresa), Tom (Jean); sisters: Carmella Kelly, Rita (Jim) Gardner, June (Dan) Foley; sisters in law: Theresa Bruce, Juanita Bruce-Roberts; nieces, nephews and their families; brothers and sisters in-law: Ray (Joyce), Ann, Geri (Ron), George (Annette), David (Theresa), Herb Casey, nieces, nephews, their families; god children: Fred Bruce Jr., Paula Bruce, Erin Doherty, Michael Butland , Tina Cline & many special friends. Ed was known for his kindness and generosity. Everyone was welcomed into his home and always left with a care package. Ed's 40 year commitment to voluntarism included: Long Hr.-Mt. Arlington Hgts. Town Council, St.Francis Xavier Parish, Rural & Local Development, Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Avalon Business Development, Canadian Rangers, Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal and numerous Volunteer Service Awards. Visitation will take place at Caul's Funeral Home, Le Marchant Rd. on Wednesday & Thursday from 2-5pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 9:30 am from St. Patrick's Church, Patrick St. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted towards an Education Fund for all Ed's grandchildren.
