Gussie Clinton

On the beautiful fall morning of November 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, Gussie Clinton passed away at the Souris Hospital where he received excellent care after a brief battle with cancer, aged 69 years. Gussie will be remembered for his involvement in numerous sports including; baseball, hockey (Old Timers Hamilton) and football. After his retirement in 2005 from Canada Post, golf became his passion. He was an active community volunteer and great ambassador for his town. He served as Mayor of Souris from 1994 to 2000. Gussie truly valued his many friendships old and new. Gussie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years Barb (O'Brien), his children Margo (Jason) Robertson, Morgan (Megan) and Cody (Karen). Proud Poppa of Jayne, Brett and Brooke Robertson, Carmie, Daniel and Felicity. Left to mourn are sisters Alice Winterhalder and Connie Clinton, brother Michael and sister-in-law Dorene Clinton. Fondly remembered by special niece Edythe (Mike) MacDonald as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant son Thomas in 1984, parents Percy and Sally Clinton, sisters Eleanor, Mary Ryan and Marion MacDonald, infant sister Helen and brothers Edward and John. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home in Souris for visiting hours on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral to be held on Saturday morning, November 19, 2016 to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Souris for funeral mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Gus was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Members are asked to gather at the funeral home for prayer service at 6:40 p.m. on Friday.
