Passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Center on Thursday November 17, 2016 in the company of his loving wife at the age of 66. Predeceased by his father Milton (2002); mother Mary Dooley (2009); mother-in-law Lucy Caines (Feb 2016) and father-in-law John Caines (April 1991), a man he never got to meet but they had so much in common; sisters Lorraine (2007), Florence (2002), Carol (2013), Diane (2014) brother-in-law and best friend Charles Grandy (July 2014). Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife who was at his side to the end Sheila (nee Stacey); stepsons Corey (Montreal), Scott; grandsons Benjamin; sons Robert and Rod; brothers Eddie (Marg), Rickey, Derrick; sisters Debbie (Gene Burke) and Sandra, all of St. John's; sister-in-law Maisie (Andre Sirois) Ottawa, Marie Grandy (Fortune), Karen Caines (Claude) Fortune; brothers-in-law Rennie (Ada Stacey) Fortune John Caines (Joan) Grand Bank, Tony Caines (Geneva) Fortune, also a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, special friends Ron and Uriel Murphy, Mary and Claude Ring, and special niece Alicia Grandy who has been a lifeline through this difficult time. Robert loved spending time at his cabin on the Southern Shore playing cards, enjoying a fire and a beer or two. Robert is a retired employee of the city of St. John's and honorary lifetime member of the Star of the Sea Association and member of the Glad Greeters 50 Plus Club. Special Thanks to Dr. Siddiqui, Dr. Downton, Dr. Thomas and to the staff and nurses at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic and to the many wonderful nurses in 4N.A at the Health Sciences Centre; to his community health nurse Michelle Rossiter your care and compassion will never be forgotten. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home on Friday, November 18 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. as well as on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from Caul's Chapel on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Robert's memory to the Daffodil Place.
