With heavy hearts, we the family of Jeanette Rose (Doyle) Tighe of New Waterford, announce her peaceful passing at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on November 18th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Waterford on August 21st, 1937 to the late Edward and Anastasia (Wall) Doyle. Jeanette’s family and faith were the core of her life. She was a devoted catholic and active choir member at St Joseph’s (St. Leonard’s) Parish throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many. She loved to sing and sang like an angel she did. She also enjoyed a good game of cards or bingo. Most of all she enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, having her family gathered sharing stories and laughs. She was a kind loving soul who would have done anything to help anyone. She started her professional career as a personal care worker at Spring Garden Villa nursing home in Sydney and ended that same career at the Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford which ultimately became her final residence. She truly gained another family during her time at the Maple Hill Manor. She was known for her beautiful voice and angelic version of ‘Silent Night’. Ma is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Bill) Pitts, Emily (Glendon) Burdge; sons, David (Jenny), Eddie (Anne), Darrel (Michelle), Donald, Myles, Michael (Michelle); sisters, Jenny Timmons (Jim), Kathleen Bragg, Mary Corbett; brother, John (Rosina) Doyle; grandchildren, Joanne (Mark), David (Janelle), Ashley (Curt), Brandon, Mark (Jessica), DJ (Holly), Crystal (J.D.), Lindsay, Blaise Jr., Jacob, Liam, Eric, and Makaila; great grandchildren, Georgia, Ava, Audrey, Dylan, Halle and Saxton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Myles; daughters, Joanne and Carol; son, Blaise; grandson, Vincent; sister, Eileen; brothers, James, Neil and Gerald.
Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. There will be no visitation by her request. A funeral mass to celebrate Jeanette’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 22nd at 10 .a.m in the Parish of St. Leonard’s with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will be held at the St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street following the mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, New Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Special thanks to the wonderful homecare workers who helped care for Ma while she was in her home. The Maple Hill Manor residents and staff who became Ma’s second family in her final year. Finally, the nurses and Dr.’s at the Glace Bay E.R. and New Waterford medical floor for their compassionate care in her final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
