Ronald Frank Harris

It is with deep regret that the family of Ronald Frank Harris advise of his sudden passing on Thursday, November 17, 2016 which occurred at his favourite spot – his cottage at Folly Lake, which he referred to as his “Heaven on Earth.” Ron was the son of the late Thomas and Madeline Harris and brother of the late Jack Harris. Ron grew up in Dartmouth and later moved to Truro with his wife, Karen. Ron was a councillor at the Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre and taught Red Cross Swimming for over 20 years. Ron was a sports and fitness fanatic until heart problems made things difficult. Ron was a true gentleman, a man of honour and one who valued honesty and was a loyal friend. Ron put his wife and family above all else. He is survived by the love of his life, friend and wife, Karen (Gould) Harris; mother in law, Shirley Gould whom he loved dearly. Ron was extremely supportive and proud of his six children, R. Craig (Donna) and their sons, Charlie and Jack; Stephanie Lynn (Cliff) and their sons, Cole, Grady and Evan; Colin and his “fur baby”, Bam Bam; Kim and sons, Rohen and Ashton; Colby and daughter, Cali; Brianna Leigh (his most cherished daughter of whom he was so very proud.) Ron had a great love of children and his little dog, Lucy Lu. He had an interest in social justice, politics and was a true historian with a deep belief of doing the right thing in all circumstances. Ron, our hearts are broken- not a day or minute will go by that we will not miss you and your advice – Love you until we see you again…xoxo. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. There will be a private service by family request. Donations in Ron’s memory may be directed towards Brianna’s endeavors with Special Olympics which may be done through the funeral home.
