It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Norman Daniel Morris, age 71. Norman passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by family and close friends on November 18, 2016. Born in Eskasoni he was the son of the late Matthew and Madeline (Gould) Morris. Norman was a hard worker and had many jobs throughout his life; including, working as a mechanic at Crane Cove Oyster Farm, ambulance attendant with T. W. Curry’s, dispatcher for Eskasoni Police and carpenter and heavy equipment operator with Blair Francis Construction. He also picked blueberries, was a truck driver for blueberry and potato fields in Maine, a snow plow driver, a fireman, grave digger and carpenter. He was a business owner who operated Morris Autobody and Towing, Morris Pizza, Morris Trucking & Construction with Sydney Tarpond Clean Up being one of his major professional accomplishments and Morris Christmas Tree Sales. Norman also served as a Band Councillor for the Eskasoni Band for several years. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother, St. Anne and St. Padre Pio. He made the annual pilgrimage to St. Anne De Beaupre for 49 years and Medjugorje for the past 11 years. He was an avid traveler who enjoyed travelling the world with his wife and family.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sheila (Jeddore); son, Norman Virick (Gail); daughters, Deanna, Mona and Ramona; grandchildren, Sherman , Brandon , Willis , Jody, Trista, Storm , Ayson, Eric , Aleea , Ryan , Oden , Jacklyn and Miah ; great-
grandchildren, Pierce, Jaxton and Kye; sisters, Florence , Magdeline, Catherine, Sarah, Patsy and Nina; brothers, Wayne, Anthony, Keith, Joe and Larry; godchildren, Kim Basque, Raymond Googoo, Linda Googoo, Holly Paul, Lynn Battiste, T. J. Sylliboy, Terrence Francis, Allan Jeddore Jr. and Danita Francis; as well as numerous foster children over the past 40 years. He was predeceased by sisters, Bernadette, Laura and Lavina; brothers, Steve and Wilfred. Visitation will begin after 7 p.m. at his residence at 4632 Shore Rd., Eskasoni on Thursday, November 24. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 26 at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni. Rev. Martin MacDougall will officiate. Burial in the parish cemetery.
