Passed peacefully away in palliative care surrounded by family on November 22, 2016 Betty Dunphy (nee Kent). Born May 20, 1934, Betty is predeceased by her parents Clarence and Bridget Kent of Bell Island, brothers Clarence and Peter as well as her parents-in-law, Will and Mary Dunphy of Tors Cove. Betty is leaving to mourn Clem, her loving husband of 61 years as well as her children Kevin (Diane), Keith (Michele) and Karen Duval (Steve). She will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Nicole Butler (Brett), Kimber, William, Wyatt, Marc-Antoine and Alexis. She also leaves behind siblings Angela Lahey, Dorothy Byrne, Agatha Maclean (Reg), Leo Kent (Margaret); sisters-in-law Shirley Kent (Ted Harding), Cecelia Kent, Fran Halley (Denis), Biddy O'Keefe (Pierre), Anne Hobson (Gerald), Rose Connors, Marie Harding and brother-in-law Paul Dunphy (Zita) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. Treasured friends left behind are too numerous to mention. Betty devoted her life to the service of others, beginning as a teacher & most notably as the founding president of the Waterford Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, which is still a thriving community service more than 40 years later. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Waterford Hospital Auxiliary so that mom's legacy will live on. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl from 2-4 and 7-9 on November 23rd and 24th.
