Dawn Marie "Dodey" Scott

Scott, Dawn Marie “Dodey” – Truro. With broken hearts we announce the passing of Dodey Scott, age 46, on November 19, 2016, at home surrounded by the love and support of her family.
Born in Truro, she was a daughter of Ian and Cathy Scott.
Besides her parents, she is survived by sister, Kim Bernard (Darren); brothers, Jason Scott (Charlotte), Robb Scott (Kelly); nieces and nephews, Emily, Zach, Maddie, Jacob, Abby, Griffin and Turner; her dog, Lily; her partner, Steve; and most importantly, her three boys, Ryan, Nathan, and Ben Gorringe.
Throughout her life, she was both brave and selfless. This was never more evident than during her battle with cancer, when she was always making sure others were okay before herself. Cancer took her life but it never took her spirit. There was nothing in this world Dodey wouldn’t do for her family and friends. People were drawn to her beauty, which shone through her eyes and smile every single day. We count ourselves more than lucky to have had such a strong willed, kind hearted and loving woman in our lives. Whether it was gardening in the yard, spending time at the cottage, or just enjoying the outdoors, she was always with her dogs.
Dodey’s wish was for a celebration of life in which family and friends would come together in the spirit of laughter, joy and storytelling. Please feel free to join family and friends on Friday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Truro Golf Club. For those who wish to continue the celebration, there will be a social to follow after 8 p.m.
We would like to thank Dodey’s medical team from Truro, Halifax and Toronto. We’re grateful for the palliative care team and VON nurses who allowed her to remain at home. Special thanks to Lisa and Ricardo for going above and beyond, not only for Dodey, but for the whole family
Memorial donations to Colchester East Hants VON would be appreciated.

“And if I go,
while you’re still here…
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
- behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
-both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to the fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
…I will be there.”
