He was Grampie to his precious Rilyn (Nicholson) and Bobby (Bobster) Jenkins. Hal was a radio broadcaster for 45 years beginning his career at CJCB Radio and continuing with Cher Radio, CBC, ATV, CBC and most recently News Director at 103.5 The Eagle. He took great pride in his teaching career at Centre for Distance Education and MacKenzie College. Hal was very proficient with words and was very proud to say he had several published articles in major magazines. He was a member of Westside Legion Branch 126 and a very proud member of the Dobson Yacht Club where he spent many, many hours in his boat on his beloved harbour. Hal was a very talented and respected musician and started playing in bands at a very young age. Over the years he became well known all over Cape Breton especially with Razzberry Jam. He was a gentle man and enjoyed time with his family and friends. His happiest moments were playing guitar around his backyard campfire at family gatherings, tinkering in his garage, afternoon walks in Petersfield with his wife and granddaughter and cruising the harbour on his boat.
Hal will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. He had a big heart and shared his talents and abilities wherever he could. He loved his family dearly and has left a great void in his community. We know his guitar is ready as he sings with the angels.
