It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Judith Charlene Jackson, age 66, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital. Judy died peacefully after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer and lung disease.
Born in North Sydney on May 18, 1950, she was the daughter of Phyllis (Reid) Anderson of Sydney Mines and the late Kenneth Anderson.
Besides her mother, Phyllis, Judy is survived by her loving husband, Calvin Bradbury; her son, Tyler (Jenn) Jackson, Vallejo, California; her sister, Cathy Anderson, Sydney Mines; step-children, Darren (Nicole), Kamloops, BC, Trina (Troy Gouthro), Calgary; three step-grandchildren, Jade, Lexi and Geena Simpson and step-great-grandson, Lincoln. Also surviving are her aunts, Marie Viva and Minnie (Buddy) Roberts; cousins, Bobby Griffin, Wayne Viva, Eric Roberts, Ricky Graham, Valerie McCarthy and Heather Collis; mother-in-law, Annie Bradbury and many friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Ken Anderson; a brother in infancy; aunts, Georgie Griffin, Vera Graham and uncles, Joe Viva, Hed Griffin.
Judy was a life-long learner and was a well-respected educator for 37 years on the Northside. She was an active member of the NSTU both locally and provincially for her entire career. During her time as principal at Boularderie School and after, she loved her “Boularderie Belles” and the times they had together. Judy was very family oriented and was our event organizer. She loved and decorated for every season and holiday with Christmas being her favourite.
She will be dearly missed by all of us especially her rock, Calvin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Hickey for his extra-special care for Judy.
Visitation for Judy will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Funeral service to be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney with Rev. John Hannem officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Patient Care Fund.
